Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 5th May 2012 me and a group of family and friends are gong to climb mount Snowdon in Wales, it is quite a daunting challenge as none of us are real "walkers" and to add to that we will all be dressed in full lycra as Super Heroes! But dispite that I am very much looking forward to it, as we are doing it for such an important reason. We are doing it to raise money for a charity very close to our hearts - the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
My beautiful little girl, who is 15 months old, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at just 4 weeks old.
Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases and affects over 8,500 people in the UK. Each week, 5 babies are born with cystic fibrosis, and sadly 3 people lose their fight against this disease. This disease affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust provide support for CF patients and their families, and invests a huge amount of money each year into areas of Cystic Fibrosis research, including gene therapy. Gene therapy is away of repairing or replacing the faulty cystic fibrosis gene, and in the very near future gene therapy will go to a major clinical trial.
Thanks to the work of this amazing organisation, the outlook for our daughters future is very positive, providing that they keep receiving donations so that their vital work can continue. We will also be giving money to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire which is where she receives her treatment.
We will greatly appreciate any donations for this fantastic cause and your support will be very much appreciated.
