Story
At the ripe old age of 42 (no, I know I don’t!), I’ve decided for some reason to attempt to run 42km....TWICE.
Yep, not one but two marathons.
I’m not what you’d call a natural runner – think a giraffe and you’re halfway there. Until four years ago I don’t think I’d ever run more than a kilometre in one go.
I’ve run three very painful half marathons since then, and can’t imagine turning back and running it all again. Hence this being very much a crisis….
I will be ‘running’ the Brighton Marathon in September 2021, followed by the London Marathon in April 2022.
I’m doing this to raise funds for Southgate Sports and Leisure Trust. The Olympics and the Paralympics inspire so many, yet without the coaches and the facilities at grassroots to get people active and moving, none of that matters.
I'm a passionate believer that sport and physical activity has a massive role to play post COVID in improving the physical and mental health of the nation, re-connecting communities and re-building a stronger society for all of us.
And if none of that is good enough, I genuinely think I need your sponsorship to make sure I actually go through with this!
