Story
After 7 very happy and healthy post-transplant years, I'm very sad to tell you that Sam lost his fight against organ rejection and passed away on the 27th of March 2020.
Myself, Lisa and Josie will miss him so much and everything that he was for these last 21 years. You, his friends and family meant so much to him. We are thankful Sam had the chance that he had to know you all, the friendships made, plus the support and understanding you gave him. Sam lived life to the full these past 7 years and did so many things that he had been unable to do before his transplant. Our hearts are now broken and we miss him so much, but there are so many good joyful memories and so much love during his all-too-short life to remember and cherish. Sam would say that his life was "smiles all round." Please keep him in your hearts and minds as we are doing. Our beautiful boy, an inspiration for living life full and happy.
We are hugely thankful to; the Rowans Hospice, Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and of course Sam's donor and donor family. They combined to give him a life of care for his cystic fibrosis and a wonderful double lung transplant which transformed the quality of his life.
For this gifting page it is fitting to remember the amazing time and friendships Sam had through Transplant Sport UK. He loved mixing with transplant recipients as well as live donors and supporters who used sport to promote life after transplant and the gift of life which organ donation is.
