I was set to do this bike ride in May 2010, when I suffered a collapse in my right ankle that has left me with pain on a daily basis. However with a good physiotherapist I'm now on the bike and back in training for next May. I'm riding from my home in Greater Manchester to Conwy in North Wales, where I was the Town Crier in 1984 and 1985- the youngest one in the country at 20 and only the second woman in the country to hold this kind of post!!!

In the 1980's I found myself unemployed and took Norman Tebbit's advice- I got on my bike to find work in Conwy! I'm revisiting that happy time once again!
