Story
Among the many challenges faced during the day to day running of the charity, one of the biggest is transporting our children to and from school in a safe and cost effective way. This is made increasingly difficult by the poor state of public transport and the rising increases in fuel prices.
To date, SOS Africa has relied upon increasingly unpredictable and hazardous public taxi services and our own volunteers, to take its children to and from their schools. However, as the numbers of children supported by the charity increases, there is a need to find a more suitable solution to this problem.
After much deliberation and consultation, we have decided that the only solution would be to purchase the very first SOS Africa minibus. This will enable our volunteers to pick up the SOS Africa children from their doorsteps and drop them off at the school gates on time in the morning, and collect them from their after-school care, to have them home in time to complete their household chores, in the evening. This can be achieved in a cost-effective manor, whilst protecting our children from potentially dangerous environments.
The purchasing of this minibus will cost the charity in the region of £15,000. Despite our recent successes, we are unable to purchase this bus ourselves because we commit every penny donated by the charity’s supporters, to the education process.
Therefore, to achieve this, we need your help! If you are an individual, organisation or business in a position to provide financial assistance to help us fund our minibus, please donate as much as you can below. We are happy to offer potential advertising opportunities to organisations and businesses who answer this appeal.
Alternatively you can post cheques to: SOS Africa, PO 4073, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 9AG.
