Over the last few years, SMD have helped to raise over £2,000 for Cancer Research and Macmillan, as Cancer has affected many members of staff at SMD. This year, we have chosen to raise money for Julia’s House, a Children’s Charity based in the South of the UK, local to our Head Office.

Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice, they provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at their hospice. The amazing work that Julia’s House carries out is almost entirely funded by donations with less than 5% of funding coming from the Government.

Being a local charity to SMD’s Head Office, Julia’s house has many events in the calendar throughout this year. Two of the events which staff at the Head Office have signed up to are a 100km bicycle ride and 26 mile trek across the Jurassic Coast.

Taking place at the UK’s first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site on a challenging 26 mile trek along Dorset’s stunning coastline.

Hospice to Hospice Cycle  - Sunday 11th June

Through the beautiful countryside from the hospice in Corfe Mullen, Poole to Devizes, where Julia’s House are building a new Wiltshire children’s hospice.
