Thank you all for coming to my page and checking what this is all about... Yes it is different, but it's good to keep on our toes; especially if it will benefit others, in sha Allah.

So, the READathon Challenge is to get you (the parents) involved in FUNdraising with your child/children, and at the same time encourage them to read.  This will have a direct impact on the education of the Syrian Refugee Children, studying at the Al Huda Education Centre in Amman, Jordan.

The concept is that you select a range of books that are suitable for the age of the child/chidren participating in the READathon challenge.  You then tell your friends and family and social media and ALL THE WORLD that you are fundraising, and that you want them to sponsor your child to read; (you must ensure that they enter your child's FULL name, age and city in the comment section, for the donation to count for your child.) The more you read the more you FUNdraise; and at the end of the 10 days, there are prizes to be won; they are as follows:

1) Raises the most money 

2) Most Read 

3) Recognition for effort

What's more it will be half term, soooo let them read the night away!! 

So why should you get involved?!

Here's why...

With around half of all Syrian children unable to receive schooling due to the civil war, education remains a major focus for SKT Welfare. 

4,000 schools inside Syria have been destroyed, damaged or turned into shelters for displaced persons. 

2.2 million children inside Syria are not in school. 500,000 Syrian Refugee Children are not in school. 

Many Syrian Children have had no education for at least 4 years, so we decided to tackle this head on by establishing a school in Jordan; our school is based in Amman, which started to operate in early 2014.  

Our aim with this school was not only to provide children with basic education, but also to create a holistic learning environment. Along with reviving the minds of our children, we want to likewise revive their hearts and souls. The students regularly participate in extra-curricular activities, trips and social events. 

It costs £10 per month to provide education for one child. We also offer adult education for £15 per month, this is to provide education for one adult, alhamdulillah.

The Prophet sal'Allahu alayhi wassalam is reported to have said:

"The seeking of knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim." (At-Tirmidhi)
