The SVP at St Joan of Arc in Highbury works all year round to help the needy and disadvantaged in our area.  Every Christmas we make a special effort to give some extra help and Christmas cheer to the families and individuals we visit.  This year, for obvious reasons it is particularly important.

Usually we raffle a splendid hamper which brings in funds to support us, not only over Christmas but into the next year also.  And usually we have the tremendous support of the children and parents at St Joan of Arc school, who donate toys, presents and seasonal food to fill the Christmas boxes.  This year Covid restrictions mean we are unable to do any of that.

So we are asking you to contribute what you can to enable us to still help the needy amongst us to have a better Christmas.  Whatever you can give will be valued - it can help us buy food, Christmas treats, decorations and presents which would otherwise be unaffordable to the people we help.  It will mean a mother with two little girls can make a stocking up for Christmas morning, a family who have lost their jobs in the pandemic will be able to hang up some tinsel and enjoy some Christmas goodies, a single person living alone will receive some presents to unwrap and some special food to enjoy.  And it will allow us to continue supporting all these people with assistance with food, heating, electricity throughout the winter months.

It will enable us all to practise the true spirit of Christmas - caring and sharing.
