Story
I decided to go far a walk and thought i'd raise money for Cancer ResearchUK along the way.
As you might know cancer has been a big part of my life affecting my family and friends as it has for millions others, and for the last few years I've been a registered carer.
I will be walking the 177 mile/284Km Offa's Dyke Path that follows the English/Welsh border for 1-2 days a month for 6-12 months (beginning July 29th) taking the trail in 14 stages going South to North, starting at Chepstow and ending in Prestatyn. I'm hoping to complete before Ben's wedding in July 2016.
Any money you can give will help.
- £10 could buy enough glass slides for a scientist to examine 300 tumour samples.
- £94 could cover the cost for one woman to take part in a clinical trial.
- £260 could buy a sophisticated microarray; a powerful piece of technology, helping scientists to scrutinise thousands of genes in a single experiment, and identify which are switched on to cancer.
As well as the money you will be raising for Cancer Research UK I will be personally matching a percentage of the donations, and that will then be shared between three other worthwhile charities:
The British Red Cross
http://www.redcross.org.uk/
A donation to the local food bank,
http://herefordfoodbank.co.uk/
The Actors Benevolent fund.
https://www.actorsbenevolentfund.co.uk/
So the more you donate, the more money will go to these charities as well. I'm extremely grateful for any donation large or small and I'm sure it will keep me going through the long journey I have ahead of me.
any, many thanks!
