Story
The Sponsorship Activities and Social Events (SASE) team organise a variety of events for NPS and Norse staff, based within the International Aviation Academy in Norwich, to get involved in raising money for a chosen local charity. For 2023, the charity we are raising funds for is the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (NCCSF).
The Foundation uses the power of sport to support and inspire the local community. Their charitable objectives are;
Driving inclusion for people with disabilities: 20% of people in Norfolk have a disability, which is higher than the national average. The Foundation works to provide inclusive environments that meet the needs of those taking part, so that they may enjoy the benefits of sport.
Boosting mental health and wellbeing: An estimated 38,000 people in Norfolk experience loneliness. The Foundation uses the physical and social benefits of sport to improve people's mental health and physical wellbeing. Their work helps to combat loneliness, anxiety and inactivity for people in Norfolk.
Inspiring disadvantaged people: Norfolk has the third highest school exclusion rate among rural counties. Sport and Norwich City Football Club are powerful tools for engaging with harder to reach groups and inspiring them to raise their aspirations, and reach their potential.
Our colleagues will be taking part in a number of events over the year which include the Norfolk Coastal Challenge (May), Norwich Cycle Swarm (June), National 3 Peaks Challenge (August) and the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge (September 2023).
Amy Duckworth, Daniel Holman, Mel Dack, Robin Webdale, Chris Low, Pauline Millar, Amelia Hawkins and Jordan Dungar will be taking part in the Coastal Walk Challenge on the 13th May that will see them walking either 6 miles, half marathon or marathon distances along the Norfolk Coastal Path.
