Story
From the moment I first learned about The Atlanta Women’s Foundation, I’ve been drawn to and inspired by its mission. The research is clear, investing in women and girls is a critical part of building a strong and resilient society, culture, democracy, and econ- omy. AWF’s relentless commitment to this mission is demonstrated through the suc- cess of its many grant and leadership programs. I had the privilege of participating in the Inspire Atlanta program, where I was able to see firsthand the lifechanging impact that AWF has every day. Supporting the work of The Atlanta Women’s Foundation in an effort to improve the lives of economically challenged women and girls is an easy fit for my own personal values. I trust their strategic approach, data driven initiatives, and commitment to fulfilling human potential through their programming.
Due to COVID-19, the Atlanta Womens Foundation (AWF) is unable to host their annual fundraising luncheon for the first time in 24 years! A luncheon that typically raises $1M to support economically vulnerable women and girls in our community. Prior to COVID, disparities existed for women and girls in Atlanta. 17% of women lived below the poverty line in metro Atlanta, and the majority of workers paid poverty wages were women, 79%. The need to serve Atlantas women and girls in poverty is growing. We know that through the pandemic, women have experienced higher rates of unemployment. Women cant wait for next year. That is why AWF is hosting a campaign to raise funds for The Womens Pathway to Success Program. Will you join me in support of workforce development, rental assistance, and counseling for women in need?Together, we can help women in poverty in our community, the population most affected by COVID-19 and racial injustice. Together, we can break barriers and build women.
