Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Like many I was inspired by the DIY SOS Big Build for Veterans in Manchester and wanted to take the opportunity to also contribute in some small way towards other veterans who through many different circumstances are far less fortunate than me. I will be supporting the charity 'Walking With The Wounded' and taking the challenge of ‘Walking Home For Christmas’, which is taking place between the 12th and 26th December.
In 2006 I came home from Afghanistan with my health intact, a supportive family and most importantly the stability of a place called ‘home’. Many veterans have very visible injuries, whilst far too many others suffer in silence with mental stress and subsequently both have a breakdown of a supportive family and no place to call ‘home’. Many veterans through their physical disability will struggle to ‘Walk Home For Christmas’. Many veterans will sleep rough and don’t have that option to ‘Walk Home For Christmas’ because they have no place to call ‘home’. Each and every day I am fortunate that I can leave work and head off to my family and a ‘warm home’. Both will be there for me this Christmas, but that stability will not be there for so many of our servicemen.
On Friday 18th December 2015, I will be ‘Walking Home For Christmas’ from my place of work in Coventry to my home in Sutton Coldfield. I will do just a little bit to make a difference by doing this; whereas with your support and donation you will do a whole lot more for this great cause of the 'Walking With The Wounded' Charity. Raising money for our veterans is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. So by luck or just ‘bad’ coincidence is the 26 miles I will walk home from work on that date. Please take the time to support me, but more importantly to support 'your veterans' in having a better future that they truly deserve but currently do not have. They gave, now it is your turn. Dig deep, leave a message and donate towards my 'Walking Home For Christmas', a journey I can do every day whilst they cannot.
'Per Ardua Ad Astra'.
Thank you!
