Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those who don't know, last year I lost my Dad after a long battle with COPD. He was a truly wacky guy, a great friend and I miss him dearly every day. This father's day, I have decided to run, in his memory, in the Glasgow Men's 10k.

Though ultimately it was his physical health that lead to his passing, my Dad had struggled with his mental health, mainly depression, for as long as I can remember. This was a massive hindrance to his own ability to manage his illness and I am certain that, had he been in a better place with his mental health, he would lived a much longer and happier life, even with his illness.

For this reason I have decided to run for the Scottish Association For Mental Health. SAMH are active in communities all across Scotland, providing mental health care and other vital services that are generally woefully underfunded by the government.

As well as this, I have been reliably informed by my loving girlfriend that I have become somewhat, aherm, portly over this past 12 months so this gives me an extra incentive to go out and get HEALTHY.

We all know somebody with mental health problems and many of us will have had problems of our own at some point. So, in the memory of a great man, please dig deep for a great cause!

P.S. If you are going through a tough time with your mental health. Just talk to someone, anyone, about it! Reach out and you'll be surprised how many other people are going through or have been through something similar.
