Hi Everyone,
I finally completed the remaining 382 lengths to complete my challenge...These were done on the 23rd,24th and 25th May over 6 sessions. All in all, the 3000 lengths were swam in 29 days...i made sure i finished the swim in a day under the allocated time, to make up for the lengthy delay due to my hand injury.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT, HAS BEEN GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Ryan
Hi.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to visit my page.
Following my Mothers passing in November, I wanted to do something to raise money for Cancer Research UK. At first it was going to be the half marathon, but then i injured my ankle....
Instead i am swimming 3000 lengths in 30 days, this evens out to 2.5km a day. I Started on the 1st March, and will end on the 30th.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot
Ryan
09/03...At present i have done 900 lengths in 9 days, it's been going OK. My shoulders are a little tight, and some days it feels like i'm swimming through treacle....i'm not anticipating each session with excitement. 100 lengths at a time is proving beyond me most days, so 2 trips to the pool it is.....only 2100 more to go though, they'll be over soon.
16/03...firstly can i say a huge Thanks to everyone who's contributed towards the total so far, i have been really touched by the level of support, and your generosity...i had set the £1500 target with optimism, not fully expecting to reach it, and i know we're not there yet, but it looks as if we'll blow this target out of the water!... with all going swimmingly, of course.
I awarded myself a day off on the 10th,due to fatigue, and woke up the following day needing to do 200 lengths to be on track....since then i have been playing a little bit of catch up, and have managed the daily quota up to now... am currently at 1490 in total, that's after doing 80 earlier today. I will go back this evening for a big session and hopefully knock off the 110 needed to be on track by the end of the day..despite the slight deficit,i'm still confident of getting the 3000 up before the 30th, let's see how it goes..{ managed a further 84 of the 110 needed...164 for the day...my highest total so far}
18/03...just got back from the pool where i added a further 108 to the running total...1772 completed so far! Yesterday i only managed 90 in one session, and todays was in one session too, so hopefully i'll be feeling fresh enough for 2 stints tomorrow, and maybe get ahead of the 1900 i should be at by the end of the day.
21/03...could have been more pro-active this weekend, i just managed 1 session on both Saturday and Sunday{118 and 80,respectively} And a morning swim of 64 today, has the total count at 2034...i will get ahead of the rate this evening, for sure.{ 88 added...2122 in total}
23/03...the suns out and i'm not really feeling like a swim this morning, thinking about mowing the lawn and doing a bit of gardening. Will have an evening session today. Only managed 80 yesterday. So its 2202 lengths completed so far. Finishing a day early doesn't seem that realistic, i think its going all the way...but i can see the finish now. When i read through all the messages wishing me luck,and see the pot growing, it's added motivation to keep going.{only 60 lengths added during the evening swim}
27/03....on the 24th i amassed 162 lengths over 2 sessions{60 in the morning, and 102 in the evening} On the 25th i added 86 to the total, during one evening session, and yesterday i completed a further 108 lengths in the morning.So at the end of yesterday i had a total count of 2618 lengths in 26 days.
Unfortunately i have not been able to swim today, as a lack of judgement last night has left me with a very sore and swollen right hand....i have spent all morning in A&E, and my worst fears were confirmed with news of a fracture. I have been put in a cast...which almost reaches my elbow! Not sure where i go from here, will assess things, and hopefully have a plan from tomorrow.
It's great to have passed the £1500 target...THANKYOU EVERYBODY! PLEASE KEEP ON DONATING!
