Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been threatening to enter this competition for years, but chickened out until now. Stephen Sutton's amazing lust for life, positive attitude and his famous bucket list galvanized me into action. He was a truly remarkable young man and it's humbling that he dealt with his illness in such a positive way and set an example to the rest of us. In memory of Stephen I'm raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which provides care and support for young people with cancer.
My friend Jacqi has also set an amazing example with all her fundraising in memory of her brother and her willingness to get into the sea all year round. So thank you, Jacqi, for entering this event and making it impossible for me to back out.
I've done considerably longer swims than this one, but none in water which can reach 1 degree in temperature. I have been acclimatising and have so far managed 10 mins in Herne Bay ( a balmy 8 degrees )on New Year's Day.
Doing this for such a good cause will help get me into that nearly freezing cold pool on 28 January, so please donate to make it really worthwhile. You can find info on the event and admire the wide range of silly hats worn during the competition here: https://www.slsc.org.uk/cwsc/
