Hi there and thank you very much for reading this, I do appreciate your time.
I am raising funds for Cancer Research UK and kindly request your sponsorship please. I have chosen Cancer Research UK as my nominated charity on account of my Dad, Roger Stevenson, undergoing successful treatment through 2019 and 2020 for Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. Dad has made a successful recovery and all thanks to our wonderful NHS and Sheffield Weston Park Hospital.
Dad's past running exploits are really something and I myself have not seriously gotten near to even equalling some of his personal best race times from back in the day. Dad's "grit and determination" approach to running has rubbed off on me somewhat but the only way I found that I could actually beat him is/was to run further in one go by undertaking a 100km Ultra Marathon.
A great deal of generosity was shown by my family, friends and colleagues in September 2019 when I completed The Thames Path Challenge 100km Ultra, raising just shy of £1000 for The British Heart Foundation, the support and encouragement I received back then was beyond all my expectations, thank you!
Having learned a great deal from that first Ultra Marathon experience, finishing 100km in a time of 15 hours 17 minutes, I am looking to improve upon this achievement. To give you an idea of the distance involved then it’s the equivalent of running in a straight line from my home in Greenhill, Sheffield 8, to The Ricoh Arena (home of Coventry City FC), or perhaps passing through the The City of Chester and just over the Welsh border or maybe a day out at Hornsea Mere just outside the seaside town of Hornsea on the East Coast?
I am asking that you please give whatever you afford as it all adds up. My target is £300 as this qualifies my entry to the Peak District Challenge Event.
If the event is cancelled or postponed due to ongoing Covid restrictions then the organisers, Action Challenge, are very helpful about deferring entries to future events, so your sponsorship will be carried forward to whichever event this happens to be (yes 100km! no neshing out), fingers crossed this won't be the case. Thanks for reading.
