Friends of Chernobyl's Children is a registered charity which devotes its energies to raising funds to bring children, who are at risk, from Belarus to the UK for a month every year.  The charity targets children form orphanages or disadvantaged homes aged between 6 and 13.  These children are in great need and come from social situations that make it difficult for them to get the care they require at home.  My family have volunteered to host a child for a month a year over the next 5 years and we are endeavouring to raise funds to make this possible.  Sarah kindly entered me for this marathon (I have never run a marathon before!) - she felt I wouldn't be able to turn it down because of the airborne connection!!  Thinking of the efforts of all who fought during the D-Day Landings should focus the mind though, and hopefully pull me round the course.  Many thanks for your support.  Russ
