            At the end of November I am running in a race called the ‘ 10K’ to raise money for the highly effective charity -Africa.  This is a 10 kilometre race around .  You may have sponsored me before for FARM-Africa when I ran London Marathons.  I am no longer doing a marathon distance as I have two problems:  Firstly, I now have an artificial hip and secondly, the race is at an altitude of 7,500 feet.    The reason why I want to run this race is because I have always hoped to see the work of -Africa in the field and for the first time for many years, the charity is allowing a small group of supporters to do this.     Each runner-supporter must raise sponsorship funds  that go straight to FARM-Africa, hence this request.   We will be personally paying absolutely all our expenses so you can be sure that all funds raised will go to FARM-Africa.   The race will be run one day after arrival in Ethiopia and then there is a long trip South to where the important work is being done.

         -Africa is a pretty small charity which trains local farmers in , southern , , and and then provides them with the means to benefit from the training.  It might involve seeds, tools, or an original solution like crossing local goats with Toggenburgs to produce a dairy animal which will survive desert conditions.  Please see www.farmafrica.org.uk  for a fuller description.
