Fundraising for Dementia UK
Dear Olympic Heroes and Heroines, Citizens, and People with good sense everywhere...
Yikes, there's this event loooooming...it's more of a mission where I have to put one foot in front of the other, which I have been doing successfully since 18 months old (late starter -which I promise not to be on April 14) but feet will be moving at a much more consistent pace without really ideally ever stopping, right-left-right-left, heel-toe, reach into pouch for jelly baby or six and dos-y-doh your partner...(forget last bit,... carried away...), all while running...
er, The...Brighton....Marathon.
I'm looking forward to it! There will be the prospect of a sea view with lots of promenade and beach, so I'm thinking of it as a 26.2 mile long long-jump pit at the end of which there will be a tiny little jump (ever so tiny) and a medal and orange segment for doing ever so well, then a hobble off for a little lie down.
The legs are still holding out even at the current training distance of 18 miles! The hard bit at the moment is the all the multi-tasking - knowing what to eat when - eggs, granola, Builder's choc & peanut butter bars, gnocchi, bananas, kippers, baked spuds, wholemeal doorsteps, a dried cranberry.
I chose Dementia UK because my Mum has the onset of it; she has a shorter short term memory gradually worsening and gets confused during' phone conversations, tho' she can still beat me at marbles.
I'd be ever so chuffed if you would sponsor me, smitten even. Give as little as you like (or not at all).
If you did give I might even run the whole thing through wet cement and create a Walk of Fame with your name etched into a foot print...
Love to all!
