A group of 40 enthusiasts from the maritime community
in Singapore have come together to
undertake a 24 hour endurance sea challenge (if we row fast enough to make the tidal gates), all in aid of the global
maritime welfare charity, The Mission to Seafarers. We hope to raise SGD 750k, to help all those who keep us supplied with the goods we take for granted.
Mission RASI, involves two replica 19
th Century Cornish
Pilot Boats being rowed over 140km, taking on the seas and shipping
lanes (not to mention two live military firing ranges) to complete a
non-stop circumnavigation of the island of Singapore. The event itself
will be held during the 50
th anniversary year of Singapore’s independence and coincides with Singapore Maritime Week on 22 April 2015
The beneficiary of this ambitious project is the
international maritime welfare charity, The Mission to Seafarers www.missiontoseafarers.org. The
target is to raise over S$750,000 for its work. Mission RASI has already
generated global press attention, donations and prestigious support.
