Story

It has been 3 years since we lost our precious Ruby and we have decided to run the London Marathon 2023 in her memory.

Our beautiful girl passed away in January 2020, aged 15, after a short illness. She had quadriplegic cerebral palsy but despite her disability, she was determined, cheeky, a real character and quite simply the light of our lives. We miss her every moment of every day.

We have chosen to run for Chickenshed, which is very close to our hearts as Ruby spent many years as part of the Youth Theatre. It is a place where she felt safe, heard and included. Your donations will enable Chickenshed to carry on their amazing work and have an impact on children like Ruby for many more years to come.

The Run For Ruby Team of 2023 consists of Suzanne Hamilton (her mum), Lola Hamilton (her sister), David Mercer (family friend) and Izzy Ayers (uni friend). This is going to be a challenge for all of us but we’re training hard and determined to enjoy every minute of the day, with Ruby in our hearts.
