Story

***Breaking new & exciting News***

My good buddy Cliff & his mate Dave are going to pick up where I couldn't finish.

They are taking on the challenge of riding the Ride to the Sun 100mile cycle route but doing it through a cold December night rather than a balmy summer night as I had planned.

Best of luck to them

Henry

**Newsflash - Injury Stops Play**

Due to the severe flare up of a knee complaint my attempt is off for this year's Ride to the Sun by Just Eat Bike and instead of rocking out at the Crook Rave, I'll be sporting a pair of crutches.

I hope to be back on the bike later in the year and will attempt an overnight Carlisle to Cramond ride by Just Eat Bike to prove it is possible, just not with all the happy people on the RttS event.

Sorry to disappoint everyone.

Henry

--------------

Ride to the Sun https://www.ridetothesun.co.uk/ is a completely free cycling event where participants set off from Carlisle at tea time on Saturday and ride through the night to get to Cramond (outside Edinburgh) for sunrise at 4.30am Sunday morning.

It's not a race and you go at your own speed trying to overcome the challenge of the darkness and the hills.

Fresh Start have supported Ride to the Sun from the very beginning, ensuring weary riders receive a warm welcome with a hot cup of tea & a bacon butty when they get to Cramond.

To give something back to this excellent charity, I'm going to attempt the 100mile cycle from Carlisle to Cramond on one of Edinburgh's Just Eat hire bikes. I've only ridden one for a mile and from that I now know they are robust (i.e. heavy) and lowly geared...

Keeping me company on the night will be my best mate Robin, who's never done a long ride, never cycled at night or through the Scottish Borders and will be on his Brompton folding bike.

To spur us on and help Fresh Start with their work (see below) please donate what you can.

Many thanks,

Henry

The experience of being homeless can have a devastating effect. Fresh Start help those who have been homeless settle into a new home and back into their community. We do this by providing Starter Packs of everyday household goods, a Hit Squad which will help decorate up to two rooms, and an opportunity to attend cooking classes and work in one of our community Growing Spaces. Our Services help people get their life back on track, enabling them to make a home for themselves.
