Fundraising for Sport Relief
As you can see, I made it from Paris to Twickenham and am still in one piece if a little bruised and knackered!
Four long days in the saddle (with the wind and rain on a couple of days making for some gruelling riding) and four longish nights in the bars inevitably took their toll but the overall experience was fantastic. I met some great people during the event including such sporting icons as Rafa Ibanez (what a gent!), James Cracknell, Will Greenwood, Lee Dixon and, of course, the main man, Lawrence Dalllaglio himself or ‘Lol’ as I now know him! The banter and camaraderie within the whole group was fantastic throughout and shaking hands and exchanging a few words with Prince Harry at the finish was a real treat (he was absolutely thrilled to meet me). For the core team who are still on the road and will complete nearly 3,000 km’s by the time they finish, I have the utmost respect and I will follow their ongoing progress with interest. You may well have seen some of the coverage on TV and in the papers and there will be plenty more of this as the event proceeds towards its’ climax in Edinburgh on 13th March and during the following ‘Sport Relief’ weekend. The link on the web site gives you a flavour of the ride to date and if you look very closely you can even get a few glimpses of yours truly lurking around in the background.
