Hello Friends
It’s my Birthday this weekend, and usually I would use this momentous occasion to sponge free drinks off all of you down the boozer.
However, this year they’ll be no pub, club, hangover and regret to wake up to the next day as we’re (if you hadn’t already heard) all on lockdown in our homes right now.
It’s a bit of downer, but that pales in comparison to the hundreds of thousands of people in the UK sleeping rough, who are now also facing an even greater struggle to access the food, shelter and support they need and deserve during this crisis.
So (HERE IT COMES)... how about donating the money for the drinks you were going to buy me to an amazing small local homeless charity in my area, the 999 Club (more info below) who could really do with your help right now.
I’ve decided I’m turning 30 again, as this year doesn’t really count, so I’ve set a donation target of £300, which seems pretty reasonable I think!
The 999 Club is the only year-round emergency night shelter and day care centre for homeless people in and around Lewisham.
In a time where the phrase ‘self isolating’ has become a norm, rough sleepers unfortunately have nowhere to self isolate. That is why we are keeping going and still welcoming homeless people in to our Cay Centre and Night Shelter.
We cannot do all this without the help of our amazing volunteers, supporters and dedicated staff members. So from the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank each and everyone who supports the 999 Club.
