Story
Hello!
On Sunday 16th July I'll be aiming to complete the challenge of IRONMAN UK and raise much needed funds for St Catherine’s Hospice in the process. St Catherine’s are a local charity helping people with life-limiting conditions though unfortunately have to rely on support from the community in raising a huge £3.7m of their annual £5.2m running costs each year.
IRONMAN UK is held here in the North West and is basically a long distance triathlon also regarded to be the most challenging and physically demanding single-day sporting event in the world, covering 140.6 miles!
It starts with a 2.4 mile open water swim in Pennington Flash near Leigh, followed by a 'hilly' 112 mile bike journey over Rivington and around the Lancashire countryside, then finishes off with a 26.2 mile marathon in Bolton. It also has to be completed within 17 hours!
The extortionate entry fee has been paid from my own pocket (wife went mental!) and every single penny raised goes directly to St Catherine’s Hospice.
Thanks again ... your support and donation, no matter how small or large, is most appreciated .
