This year I have chosen to swim the Thames Marathon on behalf of SwimTayka, pledging to raise at least £750 for the charity. Since being founded in 2016 , SwimTayka has been dedicated to working alongside other charities across the world, with similar visions to ours, to run projects each year that provide us the opportunity to teach children the vital skill of swimming in order to prevent drowning and save lives.
According to WHO, Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. It is a silent epidemic that claims over 360,000 lives per year. This needs to change.
Every penny donated counts and helps SwimTayka take those next steps in saving innocent lives by preventing drowning in disadvantaged waterside communities across the world, while also enabling them to teach children about the environment and the importance of water stewardship.
