My 1000-Mile Marine Month
Starting on the 19th July, I'll have one month to run 1000 miles, carrying 50kg Royal Marine kit. Why? Forming part of mine and THE PROTEIN WORKS commitment to pioneer ethical and sustainable farming and combat deforestation, i'll be raising money for Chester Zoo's Act for Wildlife field project in Borneo.
The Kinabatangan forest in Borneo is home to many endangered species, including orangutans, elephants, and eight types of hornbill. These animals rely heavily on the forest for their food and shelter, but it's disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to stop this from happening before we lose these species forever.
Chester Zoo employs wardens from local communities to protect the forest. Patrols happen by car, boat and on foot, day and night all year round. Wardens stop illegal logging and poaching, making sure the animals and trees are safe.
It costs £15 a day to employ a ranger from the local community to patrol the forests.
It costs £30 a week to fuel the car to patrol in.
It costs £240 a month to run the field office, including electricity, phone and field equipment.
Please sponsor me, as every penny will go towards protecting these amazing animals from extinction.
