Story
My beautiful mum sadly passed away in 2017 at the age of 52 with head and neck cancer. She was a warm, rebellious, kind and caring woman with the most amazing sense of humour.
She did her own thing, refused to live life by rules or other peoples opinions, and would easily light up the room with her laughter. The last five years have been incredibly difficult without her, and I thought that now would be as good a time as any to do something in her memory.
Head and neck cancer is one of the least researched types of cancer, and as a result mum was always an avid supporter of Oracle Cancer Trust, the UK’s leading charity for researching head and neck cancer.
I’ll be taking part in the West London 15k Tough Mudder on 21st May with a handful of friends. This is something my mum would be utterly bewildered and totally amused by.
The thought of her son who is not and has never been remotely interested in any kind of sport whatsoever, agreeing to traipse through fifteen kilometres of mud and obstacles would have her in a state of disbelief! Which is why I think it’s the best thing I could do for her memory.
People who know me personally will understand how out of character this sort of event is for me, so the more pledges I get, the more motivated I will be to complete it! Donations of any amount will go a long way, and any awareness raised for Oracle Cancer Trust will certainly help them.
