Story

Hi everyone,

This year I will be taking part in the Bath Half Marathon 2010, on March 7th. I will be running 13 miles (21km) to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust East Anglia Appeal.

The TCT East Anglia Appeal is funding the completion of 'The Oasis Centre' at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. The centre will be for young people ages 13 - 24 recieving treatment for cancer, not just at Addenbrookes but anywhere in East Anglia. Aswell as including the best medical care, the units go beyond the NHS budget by providing state-of-the-art facilities to help keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, and a place for teenagers to meet others in the same situation. Importantly, the units aim to provide a place where teenagers dont have to stop being teenagers just because they have cancer.

Overall the Teenage Cancer Trust aims to build enough units so that by 2012 every teenager diagnosed with cancer in the UK will be treated in one of these rather than unappropriate children or adult wards.

The Oasis Centre at Addenbrookes will cost the charity £2.5 million to build, and is due to be completed in 2010. Over half of this money is hoped to be raised locally, so this is where im asking for your help!

All the money I raise well go towards the Addenbrookes appeal.

Whatever you can give, every bit will go directly to a very good cause! And will most definatly keep me encouraged during my run.

Thank you so much, and I will let you know how I get on in March!
