Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During the national lockdown I have been knitting and chatting, knitting and reading, knitting and listening and knitting and watching. Sometimes, I have just been knitting and thinking. So, I have decided to put this to good use by asking people to sponsor me to knit 100 little hats for pre-school children to raise funds for the Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) Society. My aim is to complete this project by the end of June 2021.
CGD is a rare genetic disorder that is both life threatening and life limiting. At present, a bone marrow transplant is the best hope of a healthy life for those affected. The little explorer in the picture is our youngest grandson who was diagnosed with CGD in 2019, when he was just a few weeks old.
The CGD Society is the leading authority and source of information and support for individuals, families and medical professionals in the UK and around the world. The research funded by the Society is cutting-edge. It is an exciting area for CGD-affected individuals but for millions of other people, too. Research into single-gene deficiencies like CGD can yield results that can also shed light on how other genetic disorders work. The Society also funds a clinical nurse specialist, based at Great Ormond Street Hospital, whose expertise and reassurance is invaluable to patients and their families.
Please sponsor me to meet my target of knitting 100 hats by donating to the CGD Society’s work through this
JustGiving page.
£10 pays for printed booklets to help people
manage the effects of CGD.
£50 pays for the specialist nurse to attend an
appointment at a clinic.
£100 pays for some essential little extras when a
child is going through a bone marrow transplant.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
The hats themselves will be for sale later in the year. All profits will also go to the CGD Society.
Thank you very much for your support and generosity.
