My name's Rose, and I'm shaving my luxurious mane of curls in the hopes of raising a few bob for an excellent charity. Below is an excerpt from one of Shpresa's incredible volunteers, Esme, who works tirelessly as a legal professional in defence of the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers.
We are living in unprecedented times. Shpresa works with some of the most vulnerable children and young people, women and families and its ethos has always been to proudly take care of the community and give back to others, but right now Shpresa needs your help.
The current crisis means people are not able to manage, and there is a real risk of very vulnerable individuals have no food or being forced into exploitative situations. We can meet this crisis with kindness and courage and if many of us join together, everything is possible.
£9 provides medicine for one person, not exempt from prescription charges due to their immigration status.
£10 provides phone credit for a month for a child or young person living alone in hostel accommodation, so they can keep in contact with the Shpresa staff and volunteers who are their only family.
£35 provides shopping for week to enable a family of four to eat healthily.
£50 enables Shpresa to provide food and phone credit for two young people diagnosed with the virus for a week.
