Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running a whole marathon in two parts: the Grunty Fen half marathon on 13th September and the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on 4th October. This is to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Chemotherapy Room Fund to allow them to continue giving great care for people fighting cancer.

Both my truly amazing mum (Vyvian Carter, who I share as my mother with 4 sisters) and my beautiful eldest sister, Christine ("Big C"), were diagnosed with (different) cancer within a year of each other. They're both being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn and receive great care, professionally and with kindness and respect in the Chemotherapy Suite of the hospital's Macmillan Care and Treatment Centre.

I'm aiming to raise £2500 to help the Chemotherapy Room maintain its top quality equipment so that it can continue the fight against cancer. They're fundraising to buy extra chemotherapy equipment.

Top of the range gear is a costly though essential investment. For example, just one Alaris SE volumetric pump costs £3,830. It's used to administer chemotherapy medication on a daily basis and enables nurses to give chemotherapy at the appropriate rate for the optimum benefit of patients like my mum and sister.

Let's help them raise the money they need to give those who have - or will develop - this cruel disease more than just a fighting chance, and give hope also to those who love them.
