Story
I've been running for a few years now - 5k parkruns, 10k races, half marathons. People kept asking me "are you going to do a marathon then?", and the answer was always a resounding "NO!". "My body couldn't manage it I think, I'm not sure about the training commitment" etc etc..
At least, it was until last spring. What changed? Well I ran Wokingham half-marathon, smashed my PB and (this is key!) fetlt great afterwards - no real aches and pains, joints felt fine. So when I was stood in my kitchen on Monday and my wife asked me if I had rethought my refusal to try a marathon - my answer was "YES!" I felt it was the next natural target as a runner!
So here I am, staring down the barrel of my first ever marathon, and also looking at my first ever major fundraising task. Which is where you come in - although you can't help my running, you can support my by donating, which will help spur me on and provide the additional motivation I need.
Missing People are a great charity - they do an enormous amount of work to help people who have run away, help their families who are worried, help provide a friendly ear and a helping hand. They are "a lifeline when someone disappears".
