The Helmsdale river first fish sweep has been running for many years from the Fishing Tackle shop and always supports local charities. Due to its popularity as a local novelty item we are now taking on a new format whereby anybody can have a go at guessing where the first salmon might be caught from the river. As usual there is a great prize and this year it is a top of the range Loop Salmon rod, along with a selection of fly lines and salmon flies.

Please name the pool on the river where you think the first fish may be caught. If more than one person picks the same pool then you go into a draw with others who picked that pool. The winner will be drawn by the lucky captor of the first fish.

The competition is open now and will run until the first salmon is caught from the start of next season. The river opens on Monday January 11th 2016. Best to enter before then as the first fish may be caught on opening day!

Entry is £5 per guess, good luck and thank you for supporting the Archie Foundation.
