Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September I will be attempting to achieve one of my lifelong ambitions, walking the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru.
I had considered partaking in one of the charity expeditions, but the timings of these were not compatible with my rather hectic schedule.
I wish to stress that my trip is self funded and therefore any donations go entirely to charity namely Cancer Research UK.
The four day trek on the Inca Trail is physically extremely demanding due to the combination of altitudes in excess of 4,000 metres and daily ascents in excess of 1,000 metres.
Whilst the whole trip is about two weeks this allows time for some acclimatisation and a little siteseeing. I will start the Inca Trail on 21 September with what should be one of the easier days.
Days two and three will be the most challenging with the former crossing Dead Woman's Pass (sounds ominous) at 4,200 metres and the latter a second pass at 4,000 metres.
Day four involves a very early start in order to arrive at the 'Sun Gate' for sunrise before the descent to Machu Pichu.
I am training in earnest in order to raise my levels of fitness and lower by excess baggage (weight).
If you are willing to sponsor me on completing the challenge I will be extremely grateful.
So please dig deep and donate now as every penny counts for this very worthy cause.
