In April 2012 I am leading an expedition to Everest. I am taking twenty four work colleagues from St. James’s Place Wealth Management to Base Camp, which is 17,500ft above sea level and together we hope to raise £500,000 (with company matching) for our Foundation, that grants awards to the smaller UK registered charities operating in the UK and abroad.

 

I have already led an expedition to Mont Blanc, where we took 15 novice climbers to through crevasses and snowfields to the summit of the highest point in Europe, and raised £275,000.

 

This trip is bolder still, and for the 24 trekkers, many of whom have very little mountaineering or trekking experience, it represents the trip of a lifetime and one where they stand to gain a great deal in terms of personal development.

 

For me, it doesn’t end at Everest Base Camp. Once we have said goodbye to the trekking party, I will set my sights on the summit of Everest, and for the next six weeks will aim to stand on the roof of the world.
