Finished!
It was a tough event!
I finished and I have to say it took longer than expected in 6 hours 40 minutes. The first half I was looking after my sore foot which ached a bit going up and over Ingleborough, then things eased up and I picked up the pace. A few navigation indecisions and hot weather and chatting to the marshals and admiring some stunning landscapes lost me a fair bit of time but I finished well and was pleased with my day. My main event of the year is in October, a 50 mile ultra, 6th time for me in this one.
Many thanks to the Cave and Mountain Rescue Organisation for putting on an excellent event.
I'm going to leave this page open for donations because the Rescue guys do an amazing service, they are all volunteers and when we call on their services then the rescue costs us nothing (unlike many other countries).
On the 22nd May 2016 I'll be taking part in the Ingleborough Mountain Marathon 26 miles offroad trail event organised by the Yorkshire Dales Cave and Mountain Rescue Organisation and all donations will be going to them. When there's an emergency situation in the hills these are the guys who come out and help us.
Ingleborough is the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales at 723 metres (2,372 ft). I've raced five times over Ingleborough on a bike in the 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross, I've also raced many times in the Circuit of Ingleborough Time Trial. This time no bike will be involved and I'll be running over the summit.
Thanks for all your donations.
