Update 18 June (1 day to go)
Hello all and thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Well, we are almost there - tomorrow (19th June), the mad trio will once again embark on the The Highland Cross, a 50 mile Coast to Coast event from Kintail to Beauly consisting of a somewhat hilly 20 mile cross country run followed by a 30 mile road bike section. A tough route and long day, with cramp always the order of the day, but EVERY penny raised goes towards Highland Charities, so it's well worthwhile.
All the aches and pains are now being felt, at least one of us is carring an injury, but elastoplast is a great thing (this is probably a matter of getting our excuses in early !!) The weather forecast suggests it will be slightly cool for this time of year with a slight northerly breeze - but when can you ever trust a weatherman ?
We are now over our target amount which is great, but if you would still like to donate that would certainly help the nominated charities benefit that bit more..
This year 'The Cross' aims to assist charities towards a Community Minibus, a minibus for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, refurbishment of 'Birchwood Highland' - a mental health recovery centre and 'The Seagull Trust', who aim to purchase a new boat to assist their disabled clients.
Over £2.7 million has been raised in the 27 years of 'The Cross' which is an amazing amount and we cannot imagine just how many lives have been touched through the participant's fundraising efforts. Clearly we want to raise as much as we can to help build on what has gone before and if you are able to help us in our efforts that would be great, but please don't feel obliged !
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So thanks again for taking the time to read this and please come back to the page after the19th to find out how it all went and perhaps we'll have a few photos (only if we look good in them !)
Regards
