Story
Earlier this year my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer through a screening programme that I cannot endorse enough . After swift surgery he was placed on eight, 3 week cycles of chemotherapy to ensure that all the cancer was removed and had not spread through his lymphatic system. My Dad is one of the strongest people I know and has coped exceptionally well through this trying time.
As a show of support to my fantastic father I have organised to shave my head and hopefully in the process raise lots of money for a fantastic cause which is also very close to my heart.
Last year my family sadly lost our beloved Papa, a wonderfully intelligent and kind man. My grandfather suffered from pancreatic cancer but also severe heart problems. After many emergency hospital visits and as Christmas approached, it seemed that Papa was declining fast. His dying wish was to be able to spend his last Christmas with his family in his family home, a wish that could not have been granted with out the help of the wonderful Marie Curie Nurses who visited every day, even on Christmas. As a result Papa was able to pass away with all his family around him in the home he had shared with his Wife, Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
I am thankful every day for the gift Marie Curie gave our family and my Grandfather- one last Christmas in his home.
