Story
time to visit my latest JustGiving page.
As many of you know Neil Houghton (my father in law) died on the 26th of April 2011 and his passing has left a huge hole in all of our hearts. (I miss you Neil!)
Almost exactly two years on, on the 21st April 2013, I will be taking on a gruelling 26.2 miles (40 kilometres!) in the Virgin London Marathon. I know that the months of training in the dark and cold will be a real challenge (and will bring a smile to some of your faces), but come rain, snow or shine I will make it to the finish line in April!
As part of my challenge, I will be raising money for Help the Hospices. Hospice care is a cause that is close to my heart. St. Johns Hospice in Doncaster was incredible when Neil went there for his final few days, Neil died according to his wishes peacefully and with dignity, he literally slipped away... This time round I would like to support these amazing places and people as way of saying thank you. So through my tired legs and with your help, I want to make a real difference to people facing the end of life. Anything you are able to donate to my efforts will make a difference.
Hospice care helps people live well before they die. Collectively, hospices have to raise an incredible £550 million pounds every year to continue providing this care. Take a few moments if you can to go to the website (http://www.helpthehospices.org.uk/about-hospice-care/film/)to watch how your donation will help people when they need it most.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
