Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 9th June 2016, when doing maintenance on the bells at Middleham, in Wensleydale, prior to a peal to mark the centenary of the death of John Sarginson, a local ringer killed at the Battle of the Somme, I fell and was badly injured. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called and the helicopter flew me to the regional trauma unit at James Cook Hospital in Middlesborough. This saved me a very long and painful journey by road.
My flight cost approximately £4,000 so I would like to raise that amount for the charity. To do this I attempted, with 11 friends, to ring a full peal (over 5,000 changes, all different) on the bells of St. Thomas a Becket church, Stockton on Tees (not far from James Cook Hospital) on 26th November. Unfortunately the peal attempt was unsuccessful due to a broken bellrope after 1hr 35mins of good ringing.
We are having another attempt on 14th January at Ripon Cathedral starting at 10.30am. Do come along and listen to some of the ringing.
