At the beginning of 2022 my left leg stopped working. Very quickly this was diagnosed as relapsing and remitting MS. I have since made a fairly good recovery and am back running, albeit a bit slower than before (I was never quick). I am very optimistic about the future. In a large part this is because of advances in MS treatment over recent years. These advances are only made possible by research. I have started on a Disease Modifying Therapy - a type of treatment that can slow down the damage caused by MS and reduce the risk of relapses. However, this is not a cure and these treatments don't work for all types of MS. This is why I'm raising money for the MS Society To help fund research to achieve a world free from the effects of MS - one of the leading causes of disability in young adults.
In March I have a group of friends and family joining me in running the Cambridge half marathon, to raise money for the MS Society. We are not all natural runners and I am very grateful for their support. I understand that life is very expensive at the moment. Any money you are able to donate would be very appreciated.
