Story
41 years ago I passed selection to join the Special Air Service. Part of that Selection was the infamous Fan Dance in the Brecon Beacons, a 22 km march up to Pen Y Fan and down twice. Since then, for the past 7 years I have lived with Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinaemia. It is an incurable but manageable blood cancer. Now 68 yrs old, I want to take a team of WM Patients, Consultant Haematologists and Clinical Nursing Staff on The Fan Dance, not only as a show of Positivity and teamwork, but also on behalf of the many people living with WM who sadly will not be physically robust enough to take part because of this condition. Thankfully this time I won't have to do it within 4 hours with a rifle and pack, but it is going to be a tough ask of the guys doing it with me. Please help us raise some funds to continue to support our patients.
WMUK is the only charity in the UK focused solely on Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer. We are a partnership of WM doctors and patients in the UK working together to improve the treatment and care of people with WM. Your support helps us in our work to focus on providing: accurate diagnosis and high-quality care, personalised information and support, research that matters to patients and access to new and better treatments.
