Story
Like most of the world I am horrified if not mortified that an peaceful country like Ukraine has been invaded by Russia.
When the invasion started I spent hours watching the news, reading articles and thinking how I might be able to help support the Ukrainian effort.
On one of my 10k runs I found myself thinking of the women and children of Ukraine. They didn't ask for this war and whilst some are resisting the Russian invasion there are also those fleeing the country with no where to go, no food, no water and essentially they have lost everything.
Being a father I also thought how I'd feel if my son had to flee his country because of an invading force.
This alone motivated me to reach out to the Red Cross.
Every year I take part in a challenge to help raise funds for a local or national charity. This year I'm doing my bit to help support the ongoing humanitarian effort in Ukraine by not only taking part in my first trail event but also taking on one of the largest runs I've ever done.
The Exmoor Trail Run covers over 53.8km across Exmoor, the furthest I've ever run on roads is 22.5km.
Just how the people of Ukraine are having to walk hundreds of miles to safety, I want to share some of that experience and raise funds to help.
