Story
After struggling with Mental Health issues that came up from nowhere, mainly after I left the Service, I had to do something about it. So for me, it was turning to exercise, an alternative therapy. Pushing myself further and finding more challenges, but also giving myself an exit of stress relief and headspace.
Now I am here, along with UK Firefighters and Bombeiros in Portugal, although they are incredibly stretched and exhausted by the number of fires they are dealing with, setting out to cycle across the Algarve 162km in 1 day, Spain border to West Coast.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides specialist lifelong support for members of the UKs fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. Whatever their reason for coming to the Charity whether they are injured, recovering from an illness, suffering from stress or anxiety their teams take the time to understand each persons mental, physical and social needs. To ensure the Charity can do this for over 5,000 people a year and to meet the £9m cost of operating its support services, it is dependent on regular donations from fire and rescue service personnel, past and present, as well as the general public.
Thank you for your support and donation. I am fully aware of how difficult it is for everyone right now.
