Story
UPDATE!! - Unfortunately due to an injury to my right foot arch I have been forced to pull out of this years Brighton Marathon. I would like to thank all the people that have kindly sponsored me and in doing so donated to Macmillan cancer support and hope they will understand my situation. I am very frustrated at not being to complete the run after all the training but hope to complete an alternative marathon later in the year once I have sorted out the injury. In the meantime its back on the bike until my foot recovers with a 400km sponsored ride planned for July.
Thank all very much for being so generous! Rob.
I'm about to take part in my first marathon (and probably last judging by how my legs are acheing!) in Brighton on the 18th April. I am hoping to raise at least £1000 for Macmillan cancer support.
In early 1994 my father was still playing 5 a-side football at the age of 51 giving out plenty bruised shins to the rest of the players in North Nibley. Within a couple of weeks however things changed rapidly, with the onset of sudden stomach pains he was diagnosed with cancer and he passed away on the 18th Feb that year. When he was ill and at home Macmillan nurses came to us and provided amazing care not only for my father who was terminally ill but also great support for the rest of the family who's whole world had turned upside down.
In many ways it seems like yesterday and yet over 16 years have passed. In that time Macmillan cancer support nurses have continued to help thousands more cancer sufferers and their families through terrible times. In order that Macmillan cancer support can continue doing there fantastic work I hope that you will please dig deep and donate.
In return I shall try and hold up my side of the deal by pacing / hobbling 26.2 miles of the streets of Brighton on the 18th April!
Many Thanks,
Roo / Rob Bunn
