Story
Firstly, a MASSIVE thanks for visiting this page. The PBC Foundation is an extremely worthy charity and one that is often overlooked. In fact I'd never even heard of Primary Biliary Cirrhosis or the charity until my friend and work colleague, Angie, was diagnosed with the condition a short while ago. PBC is a degenerative liver disease which effects 1 in 4000 people, and is more common in women. You can find out loads more at: www.pbcfoundation.org.uk
Better still, have a read of Angie's blog about her experiences of living with PBC.
The Challenge
The Three-Peaks challenge involves climbing the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales - namely Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Its a reasonably popular fund raising activity but one that (after a drink or three) I didn't think was quite challenging enough. So, I agreed to make it difficult and cycle in between them.
In simple terms that means climbing 3 mountains and cycling 500 miles in 4 days. I'll be putting myself through this torture in June 2013.
Those that know me will know that I like cycling (and hillwalking) but this is a seriously tough challenge for me, a middle aged bloke with dodgy knees, lousy vision and naturally lazy to boot! So, I'm asking you to support me in this challenge, laugh at how sore my gentlemans vegetables will undoubtedly become and raise as much money as possible for a fantastic organisation that do loads to support those with PBC like my friend Angie.
You can keep up to date with my training and progress via my blog
Thanks
