Story
Rob Dixon a former Britain's Strongest Man see
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Dixon_(strength_athlete).
Rob realised he had a talent for strength training whilst working on his Dad's, (Dave Dixon), farm in Sand Hutton, York at the grand old age of 7, (back in the 60,s and 70,s the men were the machines.
Robbo (aka Gobbo) will attempt to run the beautiful, undulating hills of the Wolds Way in under a day.A 79 mile national trail that starts in Hessle, near the Humber Estuary, and finishes on the airy cliffs above Filey. The run will take place on 23rd or 24th July , the exact date will be determined by the weather.
This will be no mean feat, especially for a man that used to weigh in at a whopping 19 stone! He has swapped the steaks for pulses and shed over seven stone of muscle to tackle his latest ventures. The weight may have dwindled, but his appetite for new challenges has not. They have included riding the couloirs of Chamonix; solo parapenting off the Midi; surfing with salt water crocodiles; and cage fighting - to name, but a few. One of the hardest parts of this run will be near to the half way mark. He will have to run past his very own doorstep in the beautiful and tranquil village of Thixendale.
Robinson took on this latest challenge to raise money for two charities: MacMillans and Parkinsons. In memory of a dear friend, Jo Ellerton, who was an amazing runner and never far from our thoughts. Taking inspiration from friends who suffer from Parkinsons and Rosie Pope-Swale's 'A Little Run Around the World'. Hopefully, also sharing a little slice of a hidden gem which is The Wolds Way.
I completed the 79 mile run in 14 hours 56 minutes, beat all expectations of myself, really chuffed, really knackered.
