Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It will be 11mths in July that I lost Ali to cancer, my wife of 19yrs and best friend. At the time, I decided to join WAY (Widowed and Young) so I could meet others who'd been through a similar experience but hadn't appreciated there are almost 3,000 active members across the UK. WAY is a charity that nobody wants to become a member of, but once you're eligible to join, it really does offer valuable peer to peer support and advice from people who understand. WAY supports anyone under the age of 50 who have lost their partner, and through them, I've met lots of friends I would probably never have met. For me, WAY has really been of great help to connect with others who 'get it' and to remind myself that they have been through a similar experience too.
In support of WAY, and in memory of Ali, I'm going to be paddling with Ed's motley WAY crew in a series of gruelling Dragon Boat races in Kingston Upon Thames on Sunday 21st July 2019. With a bit of luck, and some frantic paddling, we're hoping to raise some money for this worthy Charity and also have some fun along the way.
If you're able to donate, your support will be much appreciated with your money offering a valuable lifeline to newly bereaved young widows following the loss of their loved ones.
