Story
The Daley family would like to thank everyone for the kind offers to send flowers. They would like to request that anyone who would like to send flowers make a donation to their chosen charities; St. Luke’s Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer Care or the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
Tom said “We need to raise a lot of money everyone who has supported my dad, especially the nurses, because they are genuinely so nice and caring and we couldn’t have asked for any better care”
Tom Daley’s father, Rob Daley lost his battle with cancer on the 27th May at 21.35hours. Rob Daley, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2006 passed away peacefully with his family at his side. His health has been fluctuating since February but he continued to fight until the last day, defying doctors’ expectations.
In a statement Tom said, "My dad was an incredibly brave man, completely dedicated to his family, with a love for all. If I could be half the dad he was, to my children then that will be an achievement in itself...He died 14 months exactly to the start of the 2012 Olympics. I hope he will be watching and waving his big union jack in London from somewhere else :) I love you so much dad!
Marie Curie Cancer Care was established in 1948 - the same year as the NHS. More than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals help provide care for terminally ill patients in the community and in our hospices, along with support for their families. This year they expect to provide care to more than 31,000 people with cancer and other terminal illnesses. http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/
